Hi I'm Genevieve and I am from New Zealand.
I was born with a congenital deformity called Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency, it's rare and the causes are unknown although there are theories from radiation exposure, viral, drugs (Thalidomide caused a form of pffd) to hormones. I had an amputation at 18months old in order to accommodate an artificial limb and I was up and walking around on it within a short time. I was always a fussy little diva and apparently insisted on my first leg not having toes??!! It baffles me now....why did they listen to a toddler? Weird.... I'm still pretty demanding but now I like to have toes on my artificial legs. I generally like my legs to look realistic but having grown more comfortable with my disability in recent years I'm branching out and recently collaborated with a steampunk enthusiast, a wood turner and a photographer/editor to create a rather cool looking steampunk peg leg. It really is a work of art that I'm very proud of.
Music and performing arts is a big passion of mine and I am a trained Jazz singer with a degree in music and performance experience of 10+ years. I started modelling in late 2009 when a friend asked me to pose for photos and it kind of just took off from there. Modelling actually helped me to accept and love my body and I really enjoy the creative aspect. I am consistently told I am a pleasure to work with as I have a natural presence, sensitivity, depth and am open minded. I've also done a bit of acting in Zombie and Vampire films and would love to do more. Being an Amputee has it's perks and not just for the special parking, although that is definitely very handy. (No Pun intended)
